Former legislator Amanchi Krishnamohan filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking disqualification of Chirala MLA, Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy on grounds of concealing facts in his election affidavit.
He pointed out that the MLA had not disclosed the fact that he had a daughter by the name of Ambika Krishna. The charge has sent ripples in TDP circles across the state, in the view of the fact that Amanchi had first held a press conference and later approached the High Court. Meanwhile, the controversial Chirala MLA has remained silent, contrary to his usual behaviour. This has created a buzz in TDP circles in Prakasam district. Earlier, the former MLA had submitted proof of his charges against Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy in a media conference. While Amanchi challenged the Chirala MLA saying that Ambika Krishna was ready for a forensic or DNA test on this count, Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy has not responded so far. Krishna Mohan has levelled the following charges against Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy.
The Chirala MLA got married to Prasuna in 1985 in Srisailam.
The couple have a daughter, Ambika Krishna, who was born at Saint Theresa’s Hospital in Hyderabad in the year 1989.
Ambika’s SSC certificate and Aadhaar card state the name of Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy as her father. Photographs of her birthdays and certain ceremonies as a child have the Chirala MLA in them.
Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy concealed this key fact in his nomination at the time of elections.
Because Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy’s election nomination was invalid on account of not furnishing complete information about himself, his election should be set aside, is the plea of Amanchi. He also sought directions from the court to declare him as the elected MLA from Chirala.
