Hyderabad: The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad may be in for a spell of heavy rains. The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has issued an alert to this effect. Heavy rain is likely to come Hyderabad’s way for a few days, going by the IMD’s alert.
Hyderabad has been getting some rain over the past few days and it is very likely that this spell could continue for some more time. Meanwhile, the GHMC staff are on an alert to deal with the situation. GHMC teams have been asked to stand by especially with low-lying areas in the twin cities, which are particularly vulnerable. The Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan and the GHMC officials are monitoring the situation. Emergency and Disaster Relief teams have been asked to stand by to be pressed into service, if needed.
Meanwhile, residents of the twin cities are bracing themselves for a few days of showers. The positive side of the rains is that they will augment the depleting levels of groundwater in the twin cities.
