Police seize 69 handmade bombs, arrest two in Maharashtra


Two people have been arrested by Kolhapur Crime branch police and 69 country-made bombs were seized.

The arrest and seizure were made from Gadhshingi village about 7 kilometers from the city.

The action was taken by the Kolhapur Police on October 20 after a truck driver succumbed to injuries when he stepped on an unknown object and it exploded.

the Superintendent of Police(SP) of Kolhapur district Abhinav Deshmukh confirmed the arrest.

Deshmukh said, “The two accused will be produced before the court on Wednesday. Deshmukh also shared that the country made bombs are illegal but a certain community has been indulging in the manufacturing of such bombs that are coated with food grains and placed in the jungle, bushy area with an intention to hunting wild boars. A similar type of bombs is used in rural areas for hunting which is illegal.”

Another such blast occurred at Hubli railway station on October 21. A team of Kolhapur Police has been sent to Hubli in Karnataka for examination, investigation of the blast.

Raw material in large quantities has also been seized from the house where the two accused were arrested.
